Plant a tree with BookDefy
Textbooks are cumbersome, expensive, and we only use them for a short time. Furthermore, in a world with dwindling resources, textbooks require paper - a lot of paper - that we only use for a semester.
In addition, at the end of a semester (as little as 6 weeks in the summer) that book could be replaced by a new edition.
BookDefy is trying to combat the waste involved with textbooks. Economic waste - and the $4 billion college students spend on textbooks, and environmental waste - the amount of paper used to print these "educational tools" that most times ends up in landfills.
We cannot change the way you buy textbooks, but we can enable you to swap your books with your classmates to take your limited amount of money out of the pockets of the bookstores.
Environmentally, we can help too. Letting you swap older editions of books (that would otherwise go into a landfill), and we have partnered with a charitable organization to plant a tree for every single book that is exchanged on the website, or bought through one of our partners. We have partnered with Trees for the Future, an orgnization that plants trees in the rainforests, and other areas of the world devestated by deforestation. We want to help this, and its our way of giving back.
